Headbutts in football are not a common occurrence, but when they do happen, they become a focal point of discussion and controversy.

These incidents are usually a result of players losing control of their emotions in the heat of the moment.

In one such incident, in an AFA women’s soccer tournament game, referee Estefanía Pinto changed her decision and brandished a red card after showing yellow first.

This came about as a result of defender Maria Belen Taborda applying a vicious headbutt to Ludmila Ramrez, causing referee Estefana Pinto to amend her decision.

It can be seen that at first she took the yellow from the defender, but when she saw the blood on Ramírez’s face, and with the assistance of her allies, Pinto revoked the warning and gave her a red card to remove her from the field of play.
