It’s being reported in Brazil today by Tatame, as well as Globo (the UFC’s television business partner) that women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will fight Bethe Correia in the main event of an August 1st show in Rio de Janeiro. The event would be UFC 190.
The 31-year-old Correia has the storyline of being the ‘Four Horsewomen’ killer, having wins over Rousey teammates Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler. Following each win, she would flash four fingers and put one down. Rousey had asked to fight Correia in Brazil.
Correia is undefeated (9-0) and has been on the shelf since defeating Baszler by 2nd round TKO in August. The 28-year-old Rousey (11-0) is arguably the sport’s biggest star and was last seen submitting Cat Zingano in 14 seconds, a win that drew a lot of attention from mainstream media and fans.
To say Rousey would be a big favorite is an understatement.
