WWE Trademarks Superstar Names

According to PWInsider.com, WWE has recently applied to trademark the names Bobby Roode, Rich Swann, Brian Kendrick and TJP.

As noted, WWE parted ways with Rich Swann earlier this year following a domestic incident involving Swann and his wife and independent wrestler Su Yung.

Swann had been using the Rich Swann name during independent appearances following his WWE departure, but should WWE be successful in their attempt to trademark the name, Swann will have to use a new name if he intends to continue wrestling. Swann recently announced plans to retire from pro wrestling amidst reaction to his domestic incident.

Interestingly, Swann’s real name is Richard Swann, so it remains unclear how the name situation will be handled should WWE trademark the name.
