Timothy Weah apologises for liking Instagram post celebrating Manchester United’s elimination of PSG

Speaking in an interview with RMC Sport, United States international and PSG player on loan at Celtic, Timothy Weah, apologised for liking an Instagram post put out by Manchester United player Tahith Chong following the Red Devils’ elimination for the Ligue 1 leaders.

“I had finished watching the match and at that moment I wasn’t really thinking about being at PSG, I was on route for Glasgow in some way. Tahith Chong is one of my good friends in this industry, for 5 years now. I liked this photo and commented on it without thinking. It was a mistake on my part, to not think what the consequences could be or the reaction of people.”

“There were bad reactions from fans and I absolutely do not blame them. It was a lesson for me and it is a good thing because now, I know how important it is for them and I respect that. I did not have the intention at all to put myself in this situation or to lack respect for the fans. I apologise to them, I apologise to the club for that, for those who could have felt hurt by it. I think that it was just a misunderstanding.”
