Stephy Mavididi wants Premier League move

As reported by L’Équipe, Montpellier’s English forward Stephy Mavididi has asked to leave MHSC this summer with a view to returning to England.

The 24-year-old versatile forward, used as a striker and on both wings, especially the left-hand side, during his time in France came through Arsenal’s academy before leaving for Juventus in 2018 having never made a senior outing for the Gunners, despite making League Cup squads in the 2016/17 season.

After just one senior games for Juve, Mavididi joined Dijon for the 2019/20 season and impressed, scoring seven times in 28 games before moving to Montpellier. Despite struggling with injury in the middle part of last season, Mavididi enjoyed some excellent early season form, scoring eight times in 30 Ligue 1 games overall, after nine goals during the previous year for MHSC.

However, the player has told the club he wants to move back to England this summer leading club president Laurent Nicollin to tell local paper Midi Libre last week that “if he has an opportunity to move to an English club, we won’t block him.” Discussions have taken place with various clubs, say the sports daily, but no concrete offer has been received as yet. Fabrizio Romano reported at the start of the month that West Ham, Brighton, Everton, and Southampton as well as Marseille were all keen on the striker.
