Following the New Japan Pro Wrestling stars jumping-ship to WWE, there are rumors that NJPW have scored a former WWE announcer for themselves, however the person in question is denying that a deal has been finalized.
It was announced during the MSL & SULLIVAN show at MLWRadio.com by Mister Saint Laurent that WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross has signed on to become the new announcer for NJPW on AXS TV.
“Jim Ross is returning to weekly primetime wrestling,” MSL said, while discussing the topic with co-host Kevin Sullivan. “I can officially confirm, and this is an exclusive for MSL & SULLIVAN, that Jim Ross will be the new announcer on the weekly New Japan show on AXS TV.”
Mister Saint Laurent continued, “[Ross] will call the action with Josh Barnett. They’ll be doing the sessions out in L.A. They’ll do a few shows over the course of a day or two. I know that Jim is excited and I’m happy that we can tell the fans about this.”
JR, who has called the action for NJPW for their Wrestle Kingdom show in the past, and has a history of denying reports about himself until they are officially announced, took to social media to address the rumors. He tweeted the following:
Those telling you that I have a new, wrestling gig are jumping the gun as I have NO done deal w/ anyone.

I know nothing about that & it's simply not accurate. @njpw1972 would have nothing to do w/ it anyway. https://t.co/RF34zFjVcg
