Snoop Dogg at 2K18 Event, Wade Barrett Talks Original Nexus Plans

After announcing earlier today that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will serve as the Executive Soundtrack Producer for the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game, WrestleZone reports that WWE Hall of Fame inductee Snoop Dogg is going to be appearing at tonight’s media event for the game. Snoop Dogg is a fan of WWE who has worked with them plenty of times in the past, he is in Brooklyn now and is believed to be attending the video game meeting tonight. It is unclear if Snoop Dogg’s music is going to be used in the video game at this point, but it does seem likely that he would be there to make the announcement if it were to happen.
In other news, you may remember a time in 2010 when WWE television was dominated by a faction called The Nexus. The original incarnation of the group saw a team of eight different rookies team up to take on some of the main eventers in the company. Former WWE Superstar Wade Barrett served as the leader, while David Otunga, Darren Young, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Michael Tarver, Daniel Bryan, and Skip Sheffield also served as the original members. After the team lost against a team led by John Cena at SummerSlam 2010, their momentum started to dwindle. Husky Harris, Michael McGillicutty, and CM Punk eventually joined the team before it slowly dissolved.
Wade Barrett appeared on the Inside the Ropes show to discuss the original plans for that huge SummerSlam main event. Barrett revealed in the interview that The Nexus was actually scheduled to win the match for a while, but those plans were changed on the day of the show. Barrett said, “We were pulled to one side and Arn Anderson says, ‘hey guys, here’s the finish.’…We get down to the final three which is myself and Justin Gabriel…against John Cena. And then we’re told ‘…and Cena’s going to beat you both and go over.’ At which point, I kind of thought he was joking just to gauge our reaction, and then we realized he’s not joking. This is serious; John’s going over.” Barrett also claimed that The Nexus members tried to change Vince McMahon’s mind, but he insisted on giving SummerSlam a ‘happy ending.’
