BENSON, Minn. — Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling assistant coach Eric Sanders and former Dragon wrestler Lyle Freudenberg were inducted into Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame on Saturday in Benson, Minn.
Sanders, who has worked as a Dragon wrestling assistant coach since the 2011-12 season, was a five-time state champion at Wabasha-Kellogg High School. He finished with 223 career wins and was named Mr. Minnesota in 2003. After graduating high school, Sanders went on to a successful career at North Dakota State, where he placed third in the NCAA Division 1 Western Regional twice. He finished with 75 career wins at NDSU. Sanders is a systems administrator in the Moorhead Area Public Schools in addition to serving as a Dragon assistant coach.
Freudenberg wrestled at MSUM from 1970-74 and won the NIC title at 150 pounds as a senior. He went on to post a stellar coaching career at Foley High School, where he led the teams to three state titles. Freudenberg compiled an impressive 710-137-6 dual record and coached 72 state place winners.

The new inductees honored were Paul Cyr, Freudenberg, Tom Keating, Al “Swede” Olson, Brad Pike, Sanders, Paul Vaith, and Joel Viss. Many past Hall of Fame inductees were in attendance.
