Rangers wait too long to get going in loss to Golden Knights
LAS VEGAS — Just because it was better doesn’t mean…
A Rangers fan wearing a Rod Gilbert jersey got the ultimate surprise before Sunday night’s game against the Golden Knights in Las Vegas, when Gilbert, in the flesh, snuck up behind the fan and greeted him.
Gilbert posted a video on Twitter late Sunday of a fan watching warmups alone near the ice when Gilbert tapped him on the shoulder. The fan appeared to not realize that it was Gilbert, the Rangers legend, who was speaking to him, but his senses kicked in and the fan nearly lost his mind. He lost his cap after the initial shock before holding a long embrace and talk with the 76-year-old.
Unfortunately for that fan, it proved to be the only highlight of the night as the Rangers dropped the game, 2-1, at T-Mobile Arena. They enter a five-day break having lost five of their last eight.
