Four attemps needed Copra Piacenza Nordmeccanica to win the Italian volleyball championship. The final series between Trento and Piacenza could not be more thrilling.
In the decisive fifth match Piacenza was 2:0 down in Trentino. But the team spirit and huge desire to win brought Piacenza back to game and to 3:2 victory over the Champions league winner. The best player (MVP) of the last final game was elected Hristo Zlatanov, which scored 30 points.
Italian champion from Trentino terminate the pursuit in tiebreak and Zlatanov and his teammates can finally get Italian trophy in their hands. Piacenza road will be written in the history of Italian volleyball Serie A1. Piacenza ranked fifth in regular season overcome Perugia in quarterfinal. Piacenza had a lot of difficulties in this season with many injuries but the end of the season is the best possible satisfaction for all. Except for Dante Boninfante, who has won one title in Treviso, this is the first title for all the Piacenza´s players!
