Philippe Clement: “Benoît Badiashile needs another year at Monaco.”

Speaking to Nice-Matin, AS Monaco manager Philippe Clement said that he believes that centre-back Benoît Badiashile (21) should remain at the Principality club for another year.

Clement said, “He needs to spend another year at Monaco and I have told him that. He has already demonstrated progression in the past three months. He hasn’t given me the impression that his head is elsewhere. He is engaged in the project.”

He continued, “I am certain that in a year he will have grown even more and will be able to join a big club. This would be the way to do it, just as Aurélien Tchouaméni (22) did. That way he won’t just arrive as a talent but as a player capable of starting. That will make a big difference.”

L’Équipe have reported that Monaco will not consider offers of under €50m for their French youth international, who has come through the ranks at the club to become a key element of their defence. Chelsea, Sevilla, Manchester United and Barcelona are all reported to be interested in the player.
