One of Super Rugby’s most dynamic back rows will be playing in the Pro12 from next season

IF YOU ARE a person who likes to get up early on a Saturday morning and indulge in some Super Rugby action, chances are that you have caught a couple of Highlanders games.

While they don’t have the same star power of the Crusaders and Hurricanes, the Dunedin team play a very attacking brand of rugby that often yields high-scoring crackers.

Their co-captain is All Black Ben Smith, who has thrilled fans over the last few years with his consistent ability to slice through opposition defences.

And in a boost for the Pro12, their other co-captain, Nasi Manu, is coming north to play for Edinburgh from next season.

While Manu hasn’t been capped by New Zealand, the number eight has great ball handling skills and is very powerful.

Manu is only 26 and won a Super Rugby title with the Crusaders at 19. If you have a chance to see him with the Highlanders between now and the end of the Super Rugby season it is definitely worth your time.

He will be a very good addition to the Pro12 and it will be interesting to see who else joins him in the league between now and the start of next season.
