“Quick Daylight Savings tip: if you worked a late shift last night when the clocks rolled back & had to work an extra hour, make sure you check your paystub this week and get paid for it!” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Sunday afternoon. “Computers sometimes miss it. Make sure you get paid – don’t let your labor get stolen!”

Ocasio-Cortez, a former bartender, has frequently expressed support for tipped and hourly workers, including making a one-time return to the job in May in support of a full minimum wage for tipped workers. She has frequently responded to mockery of her working-class roots by invoking the dignity of service and retail work.
“There’s nothing wrong with working retail, folding clothes for other people to buy,” the New York Democrat said in May. “There is nothing wrong with preparing the food that your neighbors will eat. There is nothing wrong with driving the buses that take your family to work.”
