CHADRON, Neb. – No. 16 Augustana College wrestling went 2-0 at Saturday’s Triangular dual, hosted by Chadron State College. The Vikings beat Hastings College, 46-6 and Chadron State, 31-15, Augustana improves its season record in duals to 5-1.

In the first dual of the day, the Vikings won six matches by pins and picked up two decisions en route to a 46-6 win over Hastings College.

Javier Vieyra (125 pounds) opened the day with a major decision (13-0) over Devin Ushio to put the Vikings on the board early 4-0. Following a pin at 133-pounds for Trey Trujillo of Hastings, Austin Jordan (141 pounds) regained Augustana’s momentum, winning a pin in 3:57 over Alec Chanthapatheth.
The Vikings never looked back taking the next seven bouts, behind four pins. Shawn Hatlestad (157 pounds) and Michael Lowman (285 pounds) both pinned their opponents in under two minutes, with Hatlestad pinning Alejandro Tarin in 1:03 to push Augustana’s lead, 19-6. Lowman won the heavyweight division with a pin in 1:44 over Pedro Garcia to close-out the dual winning 46-6.
Parker Swanson improved his record to 6-0 winning by forfeit at the 165-pound weight class.

Augustana vs Chadron State
No. 1 TJ North (125 pounds) put the Vikings on the board early with a 10-0 major decision win over Robert Ozuna. Chadron State’s Taylor Summers responded with a pin at the 133-pound bout to regain the lead 6-4.
At 141, Jeremiah Peterson dominated Josh Miller with a 17-2 technical fall to push Augustana back in the lead with a score of 9-6. Jacob Anderson (149 pounds) and Hatlestad (157 pounds) both picked up wins pushing the Vikings lead to 18-6.
In the 165 showdown, Bradyn Neises won by a close 9-5 decision over Chance Helmick, followed by the 174-pound bout where Caleb Copeland of Chadron State won by pin to add six points to the Eagles score. The Vikings still had the edge with a 21-12 lead.
Aero Amo won by a unanimous 10-2 major decision over Dylan Fors, followed by the 197-pound bout where Chadron State’s Devan Fors won by a close 3-2 decision over Jeff Nielsen to cut the Eagles deficit by 10 points, 25-15.
Michael Lowman opened the final dual against the Chadron State’s Jake Weber with a pin in 6:28 to close out the scoring with Augustana in favor winning 31-15.
