Nice-Matin report tonight that Lyon are not expected to hold on to midfielder Houssem Aouar this summer, and is the subject of interest from Nice, who are looking to add a technical profile to their midfield options.
Director of Football Julien Fournier’s imminent departure, though, means that many of the club’s moves in the transfer market are at a standstill. President Jean-Pierre Rivère confirmed yesterday that Fournier would be leaving after the transfer window.
Among the potential arrivals which were in the offing, Marseille legend Steve Mandanda could have arrived to reinforce the goalkeeping options amid the departure of Walter Benítez for PSV Eindhoven.
Another target has been French defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, whose contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the month. The former Paris Saint-Germain man will have been in the Bundesliga for five seasons, making 91 appearances for the club in total. Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram is another possible signing.
Les Aiglons are also said to be interested in Monaco’s attacking midfielder Sofiane Diop, who was relegated to the bench under new manager Philippe Clement in the second half of the season, after initially impressing at the start of the season.
