New Japan has announced its return to Australia with Southern Showdown. The event is scheduled to take place in Melbourne’s Festival Hall on June 29.
The company released a statement on its website concerning the big event.
Australian wrestling fans are among the most passionate in the world. Their vocal support during last year’s Fallout Down Under tour did not go unnoticed, and everyone at NJPW is thrilled to meet immense fan demand to see the world’s best pro wrestling in the country once more.
New Japan’s most recent event was the G1 Supercard, which took place on April 6 in Madison Square Garden. The G1 was cross-promoted between New Japan and Ring of Honor, featuring the top stars from both companies. The G1 was headlined by Kazuchika Okada wining the IWGP Championship against Jay White, as well as Matt Taven’s ROH World Championship win against Jay Lethal and Marty Scurll.
Southern Showdown tickets will go on pre-sale on April 24, with the general sale to the public happening two days later on April 26.
