During this morning’s edition of Busted Open Radio on Sirius XM Rush 93, co-host and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry discussed the announcement of WWE Evolution on Raw this week, and during the discussion, Henry told an interesting story about former WWE star and TNA Hall of Famer Gail Kim.
Henry said Kim is someone who could thrive in the WWE women’s division today with the progress the division has made, and he said that back during her initial years in WWE, Kim went to Henry and asked him for help in naming her finisher. Henry asked her to describe the finishing move, which was the feet hitting the opponent’s chin, so Henry said, ‘how about Meet Defeat?” Henry added Kim became very excited, told Michael Cole about the name, and Cole put it over on TV later that night and even joked about the clever double entendre.
More On Matt Riddle’s BOLA Status Indicating WWE Signing
As we noted on Monday night, WWN Live star Matt Riddle has pulled out of this year’s PWG Battle of Los Angeles tournament, which could be a big indication that the indie standout is heading to WWE.
We also noted that New Japan Pro Wrestling has expressed interest in signing Riddle, however, on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, host Dave Meltzer noted that Riddle pulling out of BOLA is more a sign that he is headed to WWE, as NJPW would allow Riddle to work the BOLA tournament even if he signed with New Japan. Meltzer added that WWE is the company who would more likely make Riddle pull out of BOLA, which is why the move is a likely an indication of his WWE signing.
While no official confirmation of Riddle signing with any promotion has been made as of this writing, Meltzer added both WWE and NJPW have offered Riddle deals, and it appears as if he has accepted the WWE offer.
