More on AJ Lee/WWE Evolution, Owens Being Replaced At WWE SSD

Regarding recent online rumors of WWE talking to AJ Lee about possibly returning to the company for The All-Women’s Evolution PPV on October 28th, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there was nothing to the rumors as of a few weeks ago. A WWE return for AJ Lee seems very unlikely given the various circumstances. The Observer also points to how a deal between AJ and WWE would be very difficult, and how the whole situation with the lawsuit between WWE’s Dr. Chris Amann and AJ’s husband CM Punk could make a deal almost impossible, even with the suit being settled earlier this summer.
AJ retired from in-ring action in 2015 after leaving WWE. She later revealed in her 2017 book that she decided to retire after reaching her goals in the business and after discovering permanent damage to her cervical spine. She also cited the problems between Punk and WWE as being an issue. The pro wrestling world has seen crazier returns happen in the past but AJ returning would be a shocker.
WWE has taken The Kevin Owens “I Quit” Storyline to a whole different level as they recently updated their preview for The Super Show-Down Match between John Cena & Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens & Elias. Super Show-Down takes place on Saturday, October 6th from Australia. WWE’s updated preview includes the following teaser for Elias finding a replacement partner:

Cena teams with Lashley to go head-to-head against KO and Elias at the monumental event on Saturday, Oct. 6th, marking the first time that these four Superstars have collectively shared the ring. While Cena and Owens look to reignite their storied rivalry, which culminated in a thrilling three-match series in 2015, Lashley and Elias no doubt have some unfinished business of their own, but how will these teams perform as a unit?
Cena and Lashley share a history as alumni of the Ruthless Aggression Era and are former Survivor Series teammates – they defeated five other Superstars in a Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Elimination Match back in 2006. With Lashley bent on taking care of “unfinished business,” can he and Cena pick up where they left off? As for Owens and Elias, KO revealed on the Aug. 27th edition of RAW that he “quits,” so it remains unknown at this time how that unexpected revelation will affect this scheduled match. Will Elias need to find a replacement?
