— As witnessed on last night’s WWE Royal Rumble PPV, Edge made his much rumored return to WWE, entering as participant #21 in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Originally reported by pwinsider.com last year, after being inactive for several years, Edge was finally cleared by WWE’s physicians after a visit to Pittsburgh and soon thereafter, reports surfaced that he signed a new, lucrative contract with the company.
— Edge denied the reports repeatedly, obviously in a vain attempt to keep his appearance a secret and WWE still tried to keep it under wraps as late as this afternoon when the R-rated superstar was flown in on a private jet and hidden from everyone in the backstage area until just before his entrance into the Rumble match. The WrestleVotes Twitter account notes that Edge recently signed a three-year contract with WWE for “significant money” (some rumors suggested he actually signed last year) while pwinsider.com adds that the plan is for Edge to work some “special events” moving forward, but that it is unlikely he will be in action on a weekly basis.
