MLW Star Jacob Fatu of Wrestling’s Legendary Anoa’i Family Generating Interest From Both WWE & AEW

Another member of the legendary Anoa’i wrestling family is currently on WWE’s radar, and they may not be the only major company with interest.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is considerable buzz surrounding Jacob Fatu as officials from both WWE and All Elite Wrestling are aware of his potential, and expect the up-and-coming Samoan to be a big star in the business one day.

Jacob, the son of the retired Sam Fatu (aka The Tongan Kid) and a direct cousin of The Usos, is currently signed with Major League Wrestling (MLW) and remains exclusive to the promotion on television in the United States.

On a more editorial note, we at ProWrestling.com have seen Jacob in action while attending MLW events around the country his potential is beyond obvious.

He was one of the major stand-outs at the promotion’s most recent television taping event in Chicago, and generated a lot of buzz after performing a signature Superfly Splash off the top of a steel cage. That same night, his faction known as Contra Unit, received so much heat following numerous attacks on babyface talent through the night, that they were actually pelted with a storm of garbage from the fans in attendance.

In talking with AEW sources earlier this year, we can also confirm that was at least initial interest in bringing him on board, but due to his status with MLW there was nothing that could be done for the time being. It’s not currently known when his contract expires, but it’s clear at this point that he’ll be in a very good position to negotiate when it does.
