Minnesota hit the road last weekend to wrap up its 2014-15 Big Ten season with duals against Ohio State on Friday night, then conference-newcomer Maryland on Sunday afternoon. The Gophers split the duals, dropping the first to the Buckeyes, 22-13, before dominating Maryland, 34-12.
Three Gophers posted perfect records over the weekend: Jake Short at 149, who followed up his first career Big Ten victory on Friday with his second on Sunday; No. 1 Dylan Ness at 157, who earned a decision on Friday before winning a wild scramble in the opening minute on Sunday to score a fall; and No. 4 Logan Storley, who, like Ness, followed a Friday decision with a first period pin on Sunday.
Minnesota finished the conference season 7-2, the fourth straight season in which the team has won seven or more Big Ten duals. That streak is the second-longest during J Robinson’s tenure as head coach.
The Gophers return to competition this Sunday, when they will take on No. 19 North Dakota State in Fargo as part of the NWCA National Duals. That match will be available to stream live via North Dakota State All-Access, which requires a subscription.
