Former French international and PSG central midfielder Lassana Diarra will shortly announce his retirement from professional football, according to RMC.
The 33-year-old informed Les Parisiens about his decision to bring his career to an end several months ago, to which the PSG board and manager Thomas Tuchel attempted to convince him against this cause of action, as they appreciate him as a fantastic member of the 1st team dressing room.
PSG have made Diarra multiple staff position offers, both in the youth academy and on the board, but the Frenchman responded claiming that “he didn’t want a fake job”.
Diarra has also been approached by multiple French clubs, including AS Monaco, and teams abroad. He responded to them by informing them of his decision to quit professional football.
His aim instead is to continue working on his business ventures, notably sports drink Heroic Sport which has signed a series of high-profile collaborations with West Ham, Montpellier, Stade Français, Levallois Basket and the NBA.
After several days on holiday in the United States, Diarra should imminently come back to Paris to terminate his contract. PSG and Diarra are continuing to discuss a potential role for the Frenchman from next season onwards.
