According to L’Équipe, Clermont’s Johan Gastien is set not to be sanctioned by France’s league body, the Ligue de Football Professionel, over his comments made to Islam Slimani last month.
After a long investigation and a hearing, Wednesday evening, in front of the disciplinary committee of the League, Johan Gastien, accused by Islam Slimani of having insulted him by evoking his origins, escaped any punishment for lack of evidence.

The player himself admits he made a rude comment to the Brest striker, but none of a xenophobic nature. The Algerian had pointed the finger at Gastien for calling him a “dirty Arab“, before changing his accusation to “dirty wheat” after the meeting.
The League’s Disciplinary Committee has requested an investigation to clear the air. But despite the various hearings, the report submitted at the end of this investigation did not offer enough conclusive evidence into what actually occurred on the pitch.
