After an exceptionally good run, J.K. Rowling has closed the book on Harry Potter once and for all. The author confirmed Saturday that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the recent theatrical installment in the magical series, will be the last.
“He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know,” Rowling told Reuters at the Saturday premiere of the play in London. “So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”

Based on a story by Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne, and director of the West End production John Tiffany, the Cursed Child script picks up the beloved story 19 years later after the main events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and features Harry as a 37-year-old overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic and father of three as his son Albus, enters the wizarding world for the first time. The published script hit bookstores July 31, following the opening of the play.
