The WWE Hall of Fame is almost complete for this year. There are only a few more weeks left to go until WrestleMania, and the usual Hall of Fame ceremony that takes place during the weekend is shaping up to be unique class. Entrants already confirmed include Jeff Jarrett, Ivory, The Dudley Boyz, and former WCW star and WWE Universal Champion Goldberg will be headlining the Hall of Fame this year. There have been a few more rumored names that still have yet to be officially confirmed for the Hall of Fame ceremony this year, but a surprising new entrant for this year’s class has just been announced. It looks like none other than Hillbilly Jim will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
It has been a while since Hillbilly Jim has competed in a WWE ring, but the WWE Legend has maintained a decent relationship with the company over the years. Jim’sinduction into the Hall of Fame was originally reported by Bleacher Report earlier today, and Jim commented on the honor by stating, “For a moment or two, I was knocked back on my heels. Basically, I was speechless. It was a whole lot for me to digest quickly.” Jim wrestled for WWF starting back in 1984 under the ring name Big Jim. He was later repackaged as a country-loving hillbilly character who wore overalls to the ring. Hillbilly Jim was a bit of a fan-favorite during his original run in WWF. Though he never won a championship during his pro wrestling career, Jim can now say that he is a WWE Hall of Famer.
Hillbilly Jim has worked with WWE occasionally as a host for some of their programming and as a road agent in the past. Jim also reprised his hillbilly character when he made an appearance during the ‘Gimmick Battle Royal’ at WrestleMania 17 back in 2001. Hillbilly Jim will now be joining Goldberg, Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley, Ivory, Jeff Jarrett, and Warrior Award recipient Jarrius “JJ” Robertson in the Hall of Fame Class for 2018. Bam Bam Bigelow is still rumored to be a posthumous indicted this year while Kid Rock has been cited as a possible celebrity inductee I the past. It should now be just a matter of time before the entire Hall of Fame Class for this year is fully revealed.
