As reported yesterday, fans who attended last night’s NXT Takeover: Brooklyn event in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York noticed advertisements for a match between WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus and Alexa Bliss set for the all-women’s Evolution pay-per-view in October. WWE has now confirmed that Stratus will be returning to the ring to face Bliss during the event later this year. This will be the first match ever between Bliss and Stratus, and it will be Trish’s first singles match in WWE since she faced Vickie Guerrero on Raw back on March 14th, 2011. One of WWE’s greatest female legends from the past will return to take on one of the company’s greatest stars during Evolution later on this year.

Dolph Ziggler has been on top of the Raw brand ever since he aligned himself with Drew McIntyre and defeated Seth Rollins to win the Intercontinental Championship earlier this year. Although Ziggler is riding high in WWE right now, the belief is that his current contract with the company will be expiring very soon and that he has not yet signed a new deal. While speaking with PWInsider’s Mike Johnson recently, Ziggler stated that his current deal with WWE won’t be expiring until after the summer. As far as his future in the company, Ziggler simply says that he is focusing on competing at SummerSlam tonight and Raw tomorrow, and that he will then see what the next step in his wrestling career will be.
As seen during last night’s NXT Takeover: Brooklyn show, Matt Riddle is now signed to WWE and will begin competing on the NXT roster shortly. Riddle’s WWE signing had been rumored online for quite some time with most fans agreeing that he could be very successful in the company. Of course, his WWE signing means that Riddle has left behind the independent wrestling scene. EVOLVE Wrestling, which saw Riddle thrive and win championships as he made the transition from MMA to wrestling, has just released a brief documentary online detailing Riddle’s final few days in the promotion before he joined NXT. It is a fitting tribute from farewell sendoff from EVOLVE, and it can be viewed down below:
