ECW Main Event, Shelton Not In Rumble?, McMahon & WWE Sued Over Lawler

– WWE.com has announced that next Tuesday’s edition of ECW on Sci-Fi will be headlined by ECW Champion CM Punk vs. Chavo Guerrero in a non-title bout. The stipulation is if Guerrero wins, he will become the number one contender for the ECW Championship and will get a title shot against Punk. This will be the third week straight that Punk and Chavo have faced off in the main event on ECW.

– The official web site is also promoting that Shelton Benjamin will wrestle in a Royal Rumble qualifying match on next week’s show despite him cutting a promo this week that he would win the 30 Man Royal Rumble match.

– According to a report in today’s Memphis Daily News, Memphis wrestling promoter Corey Maclin is suing WWE and Vince McMahon for pulling Jerry Lawler from a scheduled match where he was booked to face Hulk Hogan in Memphis, Tennessee last year. Lawler pulled out of the appearance because he claimed that his WWE announcer’s contract would not allow him to work because footage would be shot for the Hogan Knows Best reality show on VH-1. At the time, Hogan was not on good terms with WWE. Paul “Big Show” Wight ended up taking Lawler’s place. Click here for the full report by the newspaper.
