Didier Deschamps says he could return to club management

In an interview to be broadcast tomorrow on Prime Video, transcribed in L’Équipe, France manager Didier Deschamps has stated that he could return to club management after the end of his spell in charge of Les Bleus. The World Cup winner has been with the team since 2012, and sees his contract expire next year.

The former Monaco, Juventus and Marseille manager also indicated that he would rather remain on the touchline than move into a role away from the pitch, notably dismissing the idea of running for president of the French Football Federation – for the time being.

“I will have a life after that of being France manager. Honestly, I don’t know which, but I know it will be good as well. There’s always the possibility of going back, to return to [managing] a club. It’s a more a need that I have with regard to my mind and body, that adrenaline. Today, away from the pitch, I don’t see myself having that adrenaline.”

“[On running for FFF president] I don’t need that. It’s a role which is more political than that of the man down on the pitch. Whether it will interest me at one point, why not, but right not I still need [to be close to] the pitch. To have that adrenaline.”
