As originally reported, the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes was pulled off this past weekend’s Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling tour after experiencing a significant “pop” in his knee while in the ring.
In an update to the situation, Rhodes underwent an MRI to assess the damage done to his knee, and came back with a bit of good news, and a bit of bad news. On the positive side, his doctor believes that the MCL, PCL and ACL are all “structurally sound”. However, Cody tweeted that his meniscus has been “fairly damaged” and will require further attention.

At this point, he is not scheduled to miss any more scheduled dates, and Rhodes insists that he will be competing in the ROH Final Battle main event, as well as the upcoming NJPW Wrestle Kingdom event in January. He was originally supposed to defend the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Championship against Trent Barretta on Sunday night in Toronto, but was replaced in the match by Juice Robinson.
GOOD news is my doctor is fairly confident that my mcl/pcl/acl are structurally sound.
BAD news is the meniscus is fairly damaged, gonna’ require a scope. No dates will be adjusted at the moment, and I’ll definitely still compete in the final battle main event & at WK. pic.twitter.com/PtyK1wpoiz
