ChL: ZAKSA beaten once again by the club world champions

The Polish team showed a good performance against Trento, but also this time better on the court was the team of Stokr, Juantorena and Kaziyski.

ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle – Trentino Diatec 1-3 (24-26, 15-25, 25-16, 23-25)

After the last week’s defeat ZAKSA seemed very determinated to win the rematch. The whole match brought emotions, sport fight and good volleyball level. In the first two sets the hosts were under domination of Trento. In the 3rd set ZAKSA has changed. They served strong and were more aggressive on the net. That part of the game belonged to the hosts. Eventually, after a tied 4th set, it was Trento that celebrated the victory. After that match the team led by Radistin Stoychev is closer to the playoff 12. ZAKSA, having the same number od points and the same won-lost matches balance as Tours VB, has to fight for the spot in the next stage of the tournament.

The best players of the match were Jan Stokr (19 points: 2 blocks and 57% in attack) and Osmany Juantorena, who scored 18 points (2 aces and 67% on the net). From the other side Dominik Witczak (14 points: 3 aces and 52% in attack) and Antonin Rouzier (12 points and 46% on the net).

Radostin Stoychev said: “ZAKSA is a very tough opponent and I want to congratulate the Polish team on their performance tonight. They showed great determination, good blocks and excellent serves so that we lost our rhythm in the third set, but all in all I would say that we could control the game”.

“We did our best to stand one of the best teams in the world and I believe that tonight we showed that Trentino is within our reach” – said Daniel Castellani. “We missed a bit of luck in certain situations especially in the last and deciding set. I want to thank my players for the good performance they displayed tonight”.

Tours VB – Crvena Zvezda Beograd 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-22)

Quick game in France where the team of Tours VB once again won easily over the young team from Serbia 3-0. From the beginning Tours controlled the match and within a short time took the advantage that didn’t let go until the end of the meeting. This win leaves the door open for the team coached by Mauricio Paesfor a spot in playoff 12 stage of this year’s Champions League.

The best performers of the match were Kamil Baranek from Tours and Dusan Petkovic from Crvena Zvezda. Baranek ended with 15 points, including 1 block and 70% on the net. Petkovic scored 13 points: 1 ace and 48% in attack. Good performance also for David Smith (Tours VB), who added 2 points in block, 1 ace and 4 efficient attacks.

Overall, Tours won in block 5 – 1, attack 56% – 43%, positive reception 76% – 63% and aces 3 – 1.
