Chinese National Convicted Of Unlawful Entry At Mar-a-Lago

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — A Florida jury convicted Chinese national Yujing Zhang on Wednesday of making unlawful entry into restricted buildings or grounds at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and lying to Secret Service agents.

Yujing Zhang, 33, faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison and four years of supervised release when she is sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roy K. Altman, at 10 a.m. Nov. 22. in Fort Lauderdale.

“Zhang fraudulently gained entry onto the restricted grounds at the Mar-a-Lago Club where the U.S. president and other persons protected by the U.S. Secret Service were temporarily visiting,” said federal prosecutors.

Secret Service agents detained Zhang at the main reception area based on what they described as her suspicious actions.

“Zhang was then escorted off the property for further questioning,” prosecutors said. “During questioning, Zhang repeatedly misrepresented to U.S. Secret Service agents that she was at the Mar-a-Lago Club to attend a United Nations Friendship Event.”

The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Ariana Fajardo Orshan in Miami, Special Agent in Charge Brian Swain of the U.S. Secret Service Miami Field Office and Special Agent in Charge George L. Piro of of the FBI Miami Field Office.

Zhang also faces up to $251,000 in fines.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rolando Garcia and Michael Sherwin.
