As reported by L’Équipe, the future of Rennes midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud remains uncertain this summer with the club still awaiting a response from the player and his agent following contract talks.
After a standout year, in which the 28-year-old was arguably Ligue 1’s best player other than PSG’s Kylian Mbappé, as he made it into double figures for both goals and assists, the French midfielder is interested in a move overseas with just one year left on his current contract with SRFC. Lazio are expected to launch a move for the player in the coming days. While Napoli are also keen.
Club sporting director Florian Maurice explained: “I’ve already discussed with Benjamin and his agent to find a solution over an extension but I haven’t had any positive feedback. That doesn’t mean I won’t, but at some point I’m going to need to know where we’re going.”

With the right-back position also in flux, after a superb season that included ten league assists from Malian international Hamari Traoré, Maurice explained: “I must meet with Hamari when he returns to discuss various solutions.” The 30-year-old’s understudy, Lorenz Assignon (22) – who has also often impressed when fleetingly seen this season – will likely look to move clubs for game time should Traoré stay.
