Backstage News on WWE Wrestlers Having Insurance Coverage

— On the latest Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez indicated that when Lance Storm was in WWE back around 2002, the company issued him an insurance card. While WWE has traditionally never fully insured its talent (who are actually not classified as employees, but contractors), the understanding is that WWE would cover any expenses if something would happen to a wrestler while they were in a ring.

— Alvarez added that to this day, wrestlers are still issued those insurance cards under their name. If something happened to a wrestler during a house show or a TV show, they would go to the hospital, present the card and all the expenses related to medical treatment would be taken caren of.

— It should be noted that this would only cover injuries while “on the job” and would also only cover the wrestler and not any of their family members.
