Mustangs look to end three-match skid with road duals on Thursday and Friday

Southwest Minnesota State (11-5, 1-4 NSIC) will finish its road portion of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule this weekend verus the University of Mary (2-6, 1-5 NSIC) on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. before taking on NSIC newcomer Minot State (1-14, 0-7 NSIC) on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.NSIC WRESTLER OF THE WEEK – JACOB BEGIN (165 POUNDS)
Click Here: geelong cats guernsey 2019 Jacob Begin put himself on the map over the weekend with decisions over No. 4 and No. 3 ranked wrestlers in the country in Wade Gobin (Upper Iowa), and Cody Quinn (Minnesota State). The two wins for Begin was his 11th and 12th consecutive. Begin edged Gobin with an 8-7 decision on Friday, before downing Quinn convincingly 8-3 on Saturday. Begin is now 12-1 on the season with five pins, three major decisions and one technical fall.

OPPONENT AT A GLANCE – U-MARY:
The Marauders are 2-6 overall, 1-5 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. U-Mary’s lone NSIC victory came on Dec. 5, 2012, versus Minot State – the Marauders took the dual 28-16. The Marauders are led by 184 pounder Brady Anderson (12-4) , who is vying for his third NCAA National Tournament bid in his career.

OPPONENT AT A GLANCE – MINOT STATE:
Minot State is 1-14 overall, 0-7 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Beavers have yet to win its first NSIC dual since moving to the Division II level. MISU hasn’t recorded a victory since Nov. 30, 2012 when the Beavers dominated the University of Regina, 44-0. The Beavers have been blanked  three times in dual matches this season (#1 St. Cloud State. 49-0 | #3 Central Oklahoma 44-0 | #13 Minnesota State 54-0) MISU has faced six NWCA ranked teams so far this season, including its last match against No. 15 Augustana, the Beavers surrendered 29-15.

SERIES HISTORY – U-MARY | SMSU LEADS 4-1
Southwest Minnesota State and the University of Mary will meet for the sixth time in a series that SMSU leads 4-1. SMSU has reeled off four consecutive wins after dropping the initial match 21-16 in the 2007-08 season. SMSU is a perfect 2-0 all-time on the road when facing U-Mary. SMSU is coming off a 21-10 over U-Mary last season at the PE Gym.

SERIES HISTORY – MINOT STATE | TIED 1-1
Southwest Minnesota State and Minot State will meet for only the third time all-time in a series that is tied 1-1. The Mustangs and Beavers will ignite a series that has been stagnant since the 1972-73 season. SMSU took the first meeting during the 1970-71 season, 37-2, before dropping the next meeting the following season, 24-12.
