WWE Smackdown Live Results (10/31): Nakamura vs. Owens

WWE Smackdown Live Results (10/31): Nakamura vs. Owens

The show opens up with the intro video of SmackDown Live.
We are welcomed to the show by Tom Phillips who is back on the job this week.
We are live in the arena where Shane McMahon makes his way down to the ring. He wishes Norfolk a Happy Halloween before talking about Survivor Series and saying that a lot of people have been asking why SmackDown laid siege to Monday Night Raw, and he said that the answer is simple and he goes back a long way. He said that since Raw has been around and is approaching its 25th anniversary and that’s a big deal but Raw has always looked at SmackDown as the inferior brand.

And unfortunately that still stays around from the very top all the way down to the very lowest part of the Raw common denominator. Shane asks what one thing they can do to change this perception, and what they did, despite all odds, was they gathered a team, they put Daniel Bryan as general manager, they went live and created the land of opportunity, but that wasn’t quite enough.
He then asks so what’s the one thing they could do to change this perception? They had a team meeting with most of the SmackDown roster and came up with the idea of putting Raw under siege and kicking them right in the mouth. They did that, and he thanks everyone who comes to the events and tunes into the TV show, the entire roster, he thanks everybody even tangentially connected to SmackDown and says they’ve got heart.
He continues by saying that Daniel Bryan went to Raw last night to explain their point of view, and how was he treated? He was disrespected, locked in an office, and set up to be beat up by his former tag team partner Kane. And where was Kurt Angle then? Where was Stephanie McMahon? They didn’t care, they just put him on a slab and stretchered him out. Shane says that there will be hell to pay for that, and come Survivor Series, Kurt Angle said that he is bringing his gold medal?
Bring your medal, bring your monster among men Braun Strowman, and pick your other three Raw superstars, because Kurt is going to meet Randy Orton, three of SmackDown’s finest, and as of right now, Shane McMahon is going to be the team captain. Shane then says that he will see them in the ring. Enough talk, time for action, so let’s get the show started!

We get the entrances for our first Survivor Series qualifying match of the night and we go to a commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, the match is about the begin and we are just in time for the bell.
Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler (Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match): This is a Survivor Series Qualifying Match. Ziggler takes control early on after a stare-down. Roode comes back and blocks a dropkick, he attempts the Glorious DDT, but Ziggler escapes. Roode keeps the pressure on Ziggler and hits a blockbuster for a two count. Roode lays into Ziggler with chops to the chest, then tosses him outside. Roode follows him out, and the two brawl around ringside. The referee counts and they roll back in the ring, where Ziggler immediately hits a superkick for the three count and the first fall of the match. Roode picks up the second fall of the match after sending Ziggler head-first into the ring post, then rolling him up for the three count. It’s now 1-1. They trade blows in the middle of the ring, then Ziggler attempts a Fame-asser but misses. Roode drops Ziggler then goes for the Glorious DDT, but Ziggler escapes. Ziggler and Roode trade pin attempts until Ziggler hits a DDT of his own and both men are down. The two brawl around the ring until Roode fires up with a spine-buster on Ziggler. Roode goes to follow up with the Glorious DDT, but Ziggler escapes again and this time counters with the Zig Zag for a two count. Ziggler goes for a superkick, but Roode evades it and they trade more pin attempts. Roode finally hits the Glorious DDT on Ziggler and pins for the three count to win the match. Roode will be going on to join Team SmackDown at Survivor Series. Winner: Bobby Roode

After the match, Booby Roode is interviewed in the ring about being on Team SmackDown, and he says that now there is three members on the team: Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, and himself, and he just hopes that their next two teammates have the same passion and competitiveness that they do. At Survivor Series, SmackDown up, Raw down, #UnderSiege!

Commentary hypes up our other qualifying match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Kevin Owens as well as the match between AJ Styles and Samir Singh and we go to a commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we get some hype for the Fright Night Fatal 4 Way Match that will take place tonight on 205 Live and we head backstage where The New Day are dressed up as Jimmy Hart (Xavier Woods), Brother Love (Kofi Kingston), and Akeem the African Dream (Big E) when Rusev and Aiden English shows up to poop on their party. The New Day stay in character and taunt them about candy when Rusev yells at them about giving out candy to spies from Raw and Xavier says that they lead the charge and that they are ready to fight no matter how they are dressed.
Rusev calls Halloween a dumb holiday for dumb, dumb, dumb little children, and only one holiday matters now, Rusev day. Rusev dumps out the basket and stomps on the candy. Big E is really mad about his candy getting dumped and tells Rusev that he done did it now, and he is going to have a match. Rusev would be elated to, and he takes his leave.
We head to another area backstage where Becky Lynch is talking to almost the entire SmackDown Live women’s roster about what they did on Raw was just a preview of what they are going to do at Survivor Series and after what happened to Daniel Bryan, they can’t take any chances, and if anybody has anything to say, they need to speak up and take their piece now.
James Ellsworth, dressed in a dog suit, growls at her, and she says that she knew he would say that, and sprays him down with a bottle of water. Natalya shows up to tell them to settle their tea kettle and says that it is a shame she’s not running the show for the SmackDown women. And the thing about teams is there is always a weak link, and Becky needs to ask herself who that is.
Natalya says is it Ms. Glow, that she won the title from? Is it Charlotte, who fell short of the title? Flair better not crack under the pressure, or they will all know who to blame.
Baron Corbin makes his way down to the ring as he has another match against Sin Cara after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we are just in time for Sin Cara’s entrance. Sin Cara has a new entrance music.

They already proved that they have got the SmackDown tag division on lock, and now they gotta prove that they are the A-team on the B-brand, and come Survivor Series, they are going to lock the Raw division down and welcome them to the Uso Penitentiary.
Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin shows up and Shelton says That the Shield will wrestle the champs and they just got back from Shane, who made their title match for next week. Gable says that when he says Uce, you say no, the Usos got to go, and they’re gonna be that new tag champs, oh.
Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers are shown walking backstage to send us to a commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, The Singh Brothers do their usual big introduction for Jinder Mahal.
Jinder Mahal cuts a promo. He says that he was unfairly ejected from ringside last week for fear of what he was going to do to AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar should be feeling that same fear. Jinder says that his advocate can bloviate all he wants, but fear is setting in, and at Survivor Series The Beast will be beaten, victimized, and conquered, and he will forever be known as The Beastmaster. Mahal begins talking to his people in Punjabi when AJ Styles interrupts with his entrance.
AJ Styles vs. Samir Singh: AJ and Samir have words in the middle of the ring, then Samir punches AJ in the face. AJ fires back and takes control. AJ quickly hits the Styles Clash on Samir for the win after a very short squash match. Winner: AJ Styles

They go to leave, but Jinder has second thoughts and hits the ring again. He hits the Khallas on AJ again, then leaves while talking trash about AJ and Lesnar.
We head to the locker room area where we see Kevin Owens taping his fists when Sami Zayn enters and asks if he believes this. Owens does and says that Shane making himself captain is par for the course. Sami says that he doesn’t see how, in the land of opportunity, the best ones go to McMahon and the people he likes, like Randy Orton. He won last week using a low blow, what kind of man does that?
And what does Shane do to solve the problem? Nothing. Owens says that he is going to make it right tonight by beating Shinsuke Nakamura and leading Team SmackDown to victory at Survivor Series, and then Shane will owe them and they will get everything they have ever wanted, it will be their show. Zayn says that’s perfect and it will be the Kevin & Sami Show, to which Owens says it will be the Sami & Kevin Show.
Commentary informs us that Big E vs. Rusev will be up next right after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we get another Bludgeon Brothers video vignette, all heavy breathing and hammers to start before they talk about curing moral decay and weakness with suffering, misery, and anguish.
Rusev and Aiden English are in the ring and Aiden requests complete silence because he is going to sing us a holiday tune. It’s about how Halloween is for little ghouls and adults who act like fools and The New Day are banned from Rusev Day, basically.
This leads Big E to do the usual New Day promo and The New Day makes their way down to the ring, still in their costumes from earlier.
Big E vs. Rusev: Rusev takes control of Big E early on after the opening bell. Rusev puts the boots to Big E, but Big E turns it around and applies an abdominal stretch. Big E stays in control as he whips Rusev into the corner and stomps on him. Big E tries to send Rusev outside, but Rusev fires back at Big E and sends him out to ringside instead. Big E hits the ring post and is down on the floor. Back in the ring, Rusev continues beating down Big E. Big E comes back with a belly to belly suplex, then he dances and runs the ropes for the big splash. Big E goes to follow up wit the Big Ending, but Rusev escapes. Rusev comes back with a boot to the face, but Big E is the still standing. Rusev charges but Big E catches him and drops him with a side suplex. Aiden English runs up onto the announce table and starts singing in an attempt to distract Big E. Woods interrupts, and English jumps off the table and hits Woods. Kofi comes over and chases English into the ring. Big E grabs English and hits the Big Ending on him as Kofi leaves the ring. Rusev takes advantage of the distraction with a big kick for the three count. Winner: Rusev
After the match, Rusev and English celebrate up the ramp.
We head backstage where Sin Cara does an interview. He says that the mask is part of him and represents his familia. When he wears the mask he’s like a superhero to his children, and tonight Baron Corbin did the most disrespectful thing he can do to a luchador. He tells Corbin he went through hell to get the mask, and he’ll go through hell to keep it.
Commentary tells us Strangerer Things will happen after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, Aiden English goes to Shane McMahon in his office. He says that he is sorry about Daniel Bryan but he wants to know how Shane is celebrating the holiday. Not Halloween, but Rusev Day. He put a big L on Big E and Shane is very excited for him. Rusev pitches him for a spot on the Survivor Series team, and McMahon says that he will consider it.
English says that they are not here to pitch but Shane cuts him off and says that he will give him an opportunity in a match next week. All he has to do is defeat AJ Styles. McMahon sings “good luck” at him and Aiden gives him the “eh, it was okay” hand-wave.
It’s time for Strangerer Things and Fandango sets a plate of waffles on the floor where a hand reaches out and snatches them. Tyler Breeze shows up holding a box of Uggos and wearing a dress. Viktor shows up in a wig and Tyler says that he looks like he got pulled out of a pool drain when the box the hands came out of vibrates and Tye Dillinger comes out dressed like Tyler. Dillinger says that he is a ten and walks off with the waffles.
Konnor shows up dressed as Kane and they attack, which leads to him taking the mask off and pointing out that he told Tyler and still they attack? The lights go out and some Christmas lights turn on, framing a picture of the Bludgeon Brothers. They ask what that means and the sounds of a scuffle echo in the darkness. The lights come back on flickering and a video of someone in a mask turning around plays on a tablet. A distorted voice calls for the games to begin and the show is over.
Kevin Owens makes his way down to ring and our main event will begin after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we get some hype for the qualifying match between AJ Styles and Rusev as well as the tag title match made for next week’s show.
Kevin Owens vs. Shinsuke Nakamura: The winner of this one joins Team SmackDown at Survivor Series. The opening bell sounds and these two go right at it. Owens keeps Nakamura grounded and delivers some elbows to the face. Nakamura fights his way out and starts throwing leg kicks at Owens. Nakamura sends Owens into the corner and follows up with an elbow to the face. Nakamura lays Owens across the top turnbuckle and hits a running knee strike for a two count. Sami Zayn now makes his way down to the ring as fans boo. Owens takes advantage of the distraction by rolling up Nakamura from behind for a two count. Nakamura fires back with a boot to the face for a two count of his own. Nakamura takes Owens up top for a superplex, but Owens escapes and slams Nakamura down for another two count. Owens tells Sami to prepare the announce table for impact, and he does. Randy Orton’s music hits and the heels look up to the stage, but Orton comes down through the crowd and gets Sami from behind. Nakamura takes advantage of the distraction by nailing a shot to the face of Owens then following up with the Kinshasa for the three count. Nakamura will now be joining Team SmackDown at Survivor Series. Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura
After the match, Nakamura and Orton both admire their handiwork as Owens and Zayn are both laid out. We get replays. Nakamura celebrates in the ring as Owens stumbles up the ramp and SmackDown goes off the air.
