Kenny Omega just confirmed earlier this week that he will be taking time off from competing in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The news comes right after the members of The Elite departed NJPW during the Wrestle Kingdom 13 event on January 4th, and Omega dropped the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on that very same show. Although losing The Elite could definitely hurt NJPW, fans can now look forward to seeing another huge star who is still on the rise on future shows. It has just been reported that Juice Robinson has signed a new contract with New Japan and will continue to compete for the promotion. Robinson’s brand new deal with NJPW appears to have been signed at some point during the week.
For those who don’t know, Juice Robinson is one of the fastest rising stars in New Japan at the moment, and his work has been praised by fans and wrestlers alike. Robinson previously compete in WWE for a time as a member of the NXT roster under the ring name CJ Parker. After he was voluntarily released, he eventually made his way over to Japan and has been training and working his way to the top ever since. The Wrestling Observer Radio program noted that Robinson’s contract is a multi-year deal which will seem him compete for the promotion all the way up until 2021. Robinson has already managed to win the IWGP United States Championship, so it will be interesting to see what else he can accomplish over the next few years.
As mentioned the members of The Elite have finished all of their commitments with other wrestling promotions and will now be focused on launching their new All Elite Wrestling promotion. Fans have been eager to know which wrestlers will end up signing with AEW, but the promotion just landed their first major signings: The Elite. On the latest episode of Being the Elite, The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Brandi Rhodes, and Hangman Page all revealed that they have signed contracts with their own promotion and will be appearing on shows as talent. Interestingly, Kenny Omega still has not signed on for AEW at the moment while Marty Scurll is still under contract to ROH for a few more months.
