The group supports the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) goal of a C-band spectrum auction in 2020 and efforts by lawmakers to ensure U.S. leadership on 5G over China.
The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved a bill in December that would direct the FCC to hold a C-band auction by the end of 2020.
Rogers left Congress in 2015 and launched the group this month.
“The Chinese understand how important 5G is to America’s economy, national security, and global leadership,” Rogers in a statement.
“That’s why Beijing poured massive subsidies into Huawei, worked to undercut international competition, and waged a campaign of unprecedented economic espionage to dominate 5G,” he added. “It is crucial that we don’t allow China to outspend and outplay us on the 5G field.”
