Bloomberg reports a location has been identified by Netanyahu and he will ask the cabinet to approve it in the coming weeks.
The name for the new town has yet to be announced. The town will be named after Trump to honor him for officially recognizing Israeli control over the long-disputed territory between Israel and Syria.

Trump made the announcement in March, giving Israel a major victory in the region and angering neighboring Syria.
Netanyahu followed up Trump’s move by declaring last month he would bring forward a resolution calling for a town in Golan Heights to be named after Trump.
“In honor of President Trump, who recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan, [I] will soon call for a settlement in the Golan Heights in his name,” Netanyahu said at the time.
While Israel took control of the region in 1967 and annexed it in 1981, the U.S. and most other countries did not recognize Israel’s claim on the area.
