PSG ultras missed pre-game rituals

Having staged a large-scale and noticeable protest at the Parc des Princes on Friday night during the Ligue 1 game against Rennes, all seemed to be forgotten for the PSG ultras just four days later for their Champions League matchup against Real Madrid. However, as reported by L’Équipe, there were certain indications that discontent remains within the support groups.

For example, despite the grand display of flares at kick-off, the ultras failed to present any banners for the players as they came out onto the pitch, as they almost always do for any big game.

Equally, the ultras usually gather outside the player’s hotel (Hotel Renaissance in Rueil-Malmaison) before leaving for the stadium on the day of a match. Before last night’s game, the gathering was notably quiet. Only 50 fans were present to support the players, compared with around 200 for their quarter-final against Bayern Munich last season.
