WWE's Bayley out of action for nine months due to training injury

This story was updated at 5:30 PM Eastern.

WWE announced Friday that Bayley will be out approximately nine months due to an injury sustained in training.

As a result, a “suitable replacement” for her upcoming match against SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair at Money in the Bank will be announced on tonight’s SmackDown.

Dave Meltzer confirmed that the injury is legitimate, but didn’t know what the specifics are. Reports from other outlets have it as an ACL tear with Fightful saying the injury was a freak accident that happened during the mandatory training sessions WWE is making talents undergo as they return back to the road.

On last week’s SmackDown, Bayley accepted Belair’s challenge for an “I Quit” stipulation and joked that she would quit WWE if she lost. The two have been feuding for several months with Belair successfully defending the title against Bayley at WrestleMania Backlash and at Hell in a Cell.

It’s unknown whether the new match will also carry the same “I Quit’ stipulation.

Friday’s show, the final live event inside the ThunderDome, will also feature Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura against Baron Corbin in a pair of Money in the Bank qualifying matches.

Meltzer is also reporting that Jimmy Uso is backstage at the show, but it’s unknown whether he will be used on camera. He was arrested earlier this week for a misdemeanor DUI in Pensacola, Florida.
